Karen L. Krautheim, President.  Ms. Krautheim received a Masters of Public Administration from New York University.  Prior to forming KLK in 1988, Ms. Krautheim was Vice President and Operating Officer of Wilder Richman Corp.  In this posistion, Ms. Krautheim was wholly responsible for the operation of individual residential properties totaling approximately 7,000 units of governmentally assisted, as well as conventional multifamily rental and for sale developments, located principally in New York and New Jersey.  Ms. Krautheim interrupted her tenure at KLK in 1994 by accepting an appointed position in the Clinton Administration at HUD Central Office.  As Senior Advisor to then HUD Assistant Secretary Andrew Cuomo, Ms. Krautheim was involved in policy development and program implementation for the HOME, Community Development Block Grant, Section 108 Loan Guarantee, Homeless Supportive Housing Programs, and other CPD programs which provide affordable housing, aid for the homeless and spur economic and community development.

Ms. Krautheim was appointed as a member of the NY Governor Elect Cuomo/Duffy Transition Committee on Human Services and Housing, in November 2010.  This subcommittee's members assisted the Governor-Elect in recruiting candidates for appointment to senior level state agency leadership as well as participate in the review and recommendation of the candidates.  As a long standing advocate for housing and community development, Ms. Krautheim is a member of the New York State Association of Affordable Housing, National Association of Housing and Renewal Officials (NAR HO) serving as chairperson of the CRD&R - Affordable Housing subcommittee, a former board member of the New York Housing Conference and a member of the New York State Association of Renewal and Housing Officials, serving as its President for the 1991-1993 term.  Ms. Krautheim served on Fannie Mae's Housing Impact Advisory Committee and remains a member of its Alumni Board. She is a New York State licensed Real Estate Broker.

KLK provides consulting services to communities, public housing agencies, not-for-profit and development companies to assist in the sponsoring and development of affordable housing.  These services specifically include the identification of available local, state and federal funding sources, determination of project feasibility including analysis of capital and operating costs, preparation of funding applications and related documents, and assistance in the selection of the development team and overall development coordination.

KLK services are comprehensive, including identification of a special population to be served, appropriate government assistance programs and site selection, through to project feasibility (physical design, capital and operating costs), applications and processing support for the appropriate loan and/or coordination of development team activities from the initial concept through issuance of a building permit.  KLK also provides technical support services to refine existing development plans and apply for local, state, and federal housing and community assistance (programs).  KLK is a New York State Certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).
